Faith & Fate: Beethoven’s Mass in C and Brahms’ Schicksalslied
Our season begins with musical giants, Johannes Brahms and Ludwig von Beethoven, sung by the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, and accompanied by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Brahms’ Schicksalslied, or Song of Fate, takes us from heavenly bliss to the dramatic depths of despair, bemoaning the unpredictability of our earthly existence. Beethoven’s Mass in C Major is an unexpectedly peaceful and sublime expression of faith from the stormy iconoclast. Come meet a kinder, gentler Beethoven, and a blustery Brahms!
