The Music of Downton Abbey

The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, under the direction of Music Director Matthew Mehaffey opens the 2016-2017 performance season with The Music of Downton Abbey. The MCP, along with Pittsburgh favorites Helena Ruoti and Erika Strasburg, will take the audience on a tour of of post-Edwardian England with musical selections paired with memorable events from Downton Abbey.
The music will include well- and less well-known works from the era along with music composed by John Lunn, Emmy-winning composer of Downton Abbey. The repertoire will include works by Edward Elgar, G. F. Handel, Ralph Vaughn Williams, and more.
Audiences wishing to exorcise their Downton blues will be invited to sing along, as well as are encouraged to come dressed in their best post-Edwardian dress, for photos and a chance to win prizes!

East Liberty Presbyterian Church is on the corner of S. Highland and Penn Avenues. Street parking is available on the streets surrounding the church, and there is a lot behind the Carnegie Library. The accessible entrance is located directly on S. Highland Avenue.
